Contract Staffing Services in Chennai

Contract Staffing Services in Chennai and Across India — The Right Workers. Fully Managed. Fully Compliant.

Every business has workforce requirements that permanent employment cannot efficiently meet. A project that runs six months. A seasonal surge that needs 40 extra hands for a quarter. A specialist role needed immediately while the permanent hire is in notice period. A volume requirement that fluctuates month to month and cannot be met with a fixed headcount.

Contract staffing is the solution — and when it is managed correctly, it gives businesses the workforce flexibility they need without the administrative burden, the compliance risk, or the employment liability that comes with managing contract workers directly.

Viriksha HR Solutions is a full-service contract staffing company and temp staffing agency serving businesses across Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and Pan India — providing end-to-end contract recruiting, worker deployment, payroll processing, statutory compliance, and ongoing workforce management for every category of contract and temporary worker, including workers based outside India.

What Is Contract Staffing and Why Do Businesses Use It?

Contract staffing is a workforce model where workers are employed by a staffing agency — the contract staffing company — and deployed to client businesses for a defined period, project, or requirement. The staffing agency is the legal employer of record. The client business directs the work. The staffing agency manages everything else — payroll, PF, ESI, documentation, compliance, and ongoing employment administration.

For businesses, contract staffing delivers four outcomes that permanent hiring cannot:

HR Consultancy in Chennai
Workforce flexibility

Headcount scales up and down with business requirements without the notice period, severance, and permanent employment obligations that permanent hiring creates.

Immediate deployment

Contract workers can be sourced, screened, and deployed significantly faster than permanent hires — particularly for volume requirements where the staffing agency maintains a live bench of pre-qualified candidates.

Zero compliance exposure

When contract staffing is managed through a compliant temp staffing agency like Viriksha, every statutory obligation — PF, ESI, Professional Tax, LWF, statutory registers — is managed by the agency. The client business gets the workforce without the compliance administration.

Cost predictability

The total workforce cost is defined upfront — worker cost plus the agency's service charge — making budget management straightforward and eliminating the hidden costs of self-managed contract labour.

Types of Contract Staffing — Every Worker Category Viriksha Manages

Contract and temporary staffing is not a single, uniform model. Different business requirements call for different categories of contract worker — each with its own employment terms, statutory treatment, and management requirements.

Full-Time Contract Employees

Full-time contract employees work standard working hours — 8 hours per day, 48 hours per week — for the client business on a fixed-term or project basis. They receive all statutory benefits — PF, ESI, Professional Tax, paid leave, and gratuity where applicable — at the same rates as permanent employees.

Full-time contract employees are the most commonly deployed category in IT services, manufacturing, BFSI, and infrastructure projects. They are fully covered under the EPF Act and ESI Act — and every statutory obligation must be met from day one of employment. Viriksha manages enrollment, monthly contributions, and all statutory filings for every full-time contract employee deployed to client businesses.

Permanent Part-Time Employees

Permanent part-time employees work fewer than full-time hours on an ongoing basis — with defined working hours per week or per month. Their statutory entitlements — PF, ESI, leave, and minimum wages — are calculated on a proportionate basis relative to actual hours worked and wages paid.

Part-time contract deployment is common in retail, hospitality, healthcare, and professional services — where operational requirements vary by time of day or day of week. Viriksha manages part-time worker payroll on an actual-hours basis with correct proportionate statutory deduction and remittance.

Zero-Hour Workers

Zero-hour workers have no guaranteed minimum hours. They are available to work when called upon by the client business — and paid only for hours actually worked. This model is used for highly variable operational requirements — event support, peak season coverage, on-call technical support, and similar situations.

Zero-hour workers present the most complex payroll calculation requirements — varying wages every month based on actual hours, proportionate statutory deductions, and minimum wage compliance that must be verified on an hourly rate basis. Viriksha manages zero-hour worker payroll with hour-by-hour calculation accuracy and statutory compliance applied to every monthly payment regardless of variability.

Fixed-Term Employees

Fixed-term employees are hired for a specific defined period — three months, six months, one year — with a clear end date in the employment contract. Under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, fixed-term employees are entitled to all statutory benefits from day one — including proportionate gratuity for the fixed term, without the five-year continuous service requirement applicable to permanent employees.

Fixed-term contract staffing is the model of choice for project-based requirements, maternity cover, product launches, and seasonal capacity expansion. Viriksha manages fixed-term employment contracts, statutory benefits from day one including proportionate gratuity computation, and end-of-term processing — full and final settlement, PF transfer, and ESI de-registration — at the conclusion of the fixed term.

Independent Contractors

Independent contractors are engaged for specific outcomes or deliverables — not for time-based employment. They are not employees of the client business or the staffing agency. They are self-employed professionals or firms providing a defined service.

The distinction between a genuine independent contractor and a worker who should be classified as an employee is legally significant — and misclassification is one of the most common and costly compliance errors in contract staffing. Viriksha advises clients on correct classification, manages independent contractor engagement agreements, and ensures that workers who should be classified as employees are not incorrectly engaged as contractors — protecting the client from the retrospective PF, ESI, and gratuity liability that misclassification creates.

International Contract Staffing — Cross-Border Workers Managed Through Viriksha

An increasing number of businesses in Chennai and across India engage workers who are based in other countries — for remote roles, for GCC-based operations, for international project deployments, or for cross-border specialist assignments. Managing the payroll and statutory compliance for international workers requires a different framework — and one that most Indian businesses do not have the infrastructure to manage independently.

Viriksha’s contract staffing services extend to international workers — managing the salary processing, payroll coordination, and applicable statutory compliance for workers based in GCC countries, Southeast Asia, and other international locations through our cross-border staffing engagement model.

For international workers deployed through Viriksha, the same monthly cycle applies — client payment before the 30th, salary credited to the worker’s account before the 5th, and applicable compliance filings completed mid-month. The currency, the transfer mechanism, and the applicable statutory framework are configured for the worker’s country of engagement — with Viriksha’s payroll team managing the cross-border payment coordination.

For Indian businesses sending workers to other countries — or for international businesses engaging Indian workers remotely — Viriksha provides the payroll management, tax coordination, and documentation support that cross-border employment requires.

How Viriksha's Contract Staffing Model Works — The Complete Process

Step 1 — Requirement Brief and Worker Sourcing

Every contract staffing engagement begins with a detailed requirement brief — the number of workers needed, the role type, the skills and experience required, the deployment location, and the duration of the requirement. Viriksha’s contract recruiting team sources candidates from our live bench of pre-screened workers, our active candidate network, and targeted sourcing channels for the specific skill set required.

Sourced candidates are screened for qualification, experience, and availability — and shortlisted for client review before deployment. For volume requirements, we mobilise pre-qualified workers within 3 to 7 working days from brief confirmation.

Step 2 — Employment Documentation and Onboarding

Every worker deployed through Viriksha’s temp staffing agency is employed by Viriksha — with a compliant employment contract that specifies the nature of engagement (fixed-term, part-time, zero-hour, or full-time contract), the wage rate, the benefits entitlements, and the conditions of deployment.

Onboarding documentation includes appointment letter, Aadhaar and PAN verification, bank account verification, PF enrollment and UAN creation, ESI registration and IP number generation, and Professional Tax registration in the applicable state. All documentation is completed before the worker’s first day of deployment — so statutory compliance is in place from day one.

Step 3 — The Monthly Payroll Cycle — How It Works

Viriksha’s contract staffing payroll model is built around a simple, transparent, and deadline-driven monthly cycle that gives client businesses complete cost visibility and gives workers complete salary certainty.

Before 30th of every month

client payment deadline: The client business transfers the total monthly amount due to Viriksha before the 30th of each month. This amount covers the worker's gross wages plus Viriksha's service charge of 10% to 15% on the total worker cost — calculated on the agreed rate per worker per month. The 30th deadline is fixed — it is the foundation of the entire downstream payment and compliance cycle.

Before 5th of the following month

salary credited to workers: Once the client payment is received, salaries are processed and credited to every deployed worker's bank account before the 5th of the following month — without exception. Workers know exactly when their salary arrives. There are no delays, no partial payments, and no salary-related disputes between workers and the client business. This on-time salary commitment applies to all deployed workers — including workers based outside India whose salary is managed through Viriksha's international payroll coordination service.

Mid-month — statutory filings submitted

PF ECR is generated and uploaded to the EPFO portal. ESI challan is remitted to ESIC. Professional Tax is deducted and remitted to the applicable state authority. Labour Welfare Fund contribution is made as per schedule. All statutory registers — Employee Register, Wage Register, Muster Roll, Leave Register — are updated. Statutory filing proof is maintained and available for production during any inspection.

This three-stage cycle — client pays before 30th, worker salary credited before 5th, statutory filings completed mid-month — is the operational backbone of Viriksha’s contract staffing model. It eliminates salary delays, ensures statutory compliance on time, and gives every client a predictable, documented payment and compliance record every month.

Statutory Compliance — What Viriksha Manages for Every Contract Worker

Every contract worker deployed through Viriksha’s temp employment agency is covered under all applicable statutory schemes — with every compliance obligation managed by Viriksha as the employer of record.

PF contributions at 12% of basic wages from the employee and the employer's split contribution of 3.67% EPF and 8.33% EPS — calculated, deducted, and remitted every month. ECR filed mid-month. UAN created and KYC verified for every worker from day one.

ESI contributions at 0.75% employee share and 3.25% employer share on total gross wages — calculated and remitted every month for all workers earning below ₹21,000 per month. IP number generated. ESI card coordination managed. Accident reporting handled within 24 hours of any workplace incident.

PT deducted at the correct rate for the state of employment and remitted to the state authority on time — every month.

LWF contributions remitted at the correct state-specific rate and frequency for every state in which workers are deployed.

Employee Register, Wage Register, Muster Roll, Leave Register, Overtime Register, and Holiday Register maintained for every deployed worker — in the prescribed format, updated monthly, and available for inspection by any labour authority.

Full and Final Settlement

At the end of every contract term or on exit, Viriksha manages the complete full and final settlement calculation — outstanding wages, leave encashment, notice pay if applicable, and proportionate gratuity for fixed-term employees — and processes the payment within the statutory timeline.

The Viriksha Contract Staffing Service Charge — Transparent and Simple

Viriksha’s service charge for contract staffing is 10% to 15% of the total worker cost — calculated on the agreed monthly wage rate per worker. The service charge covers the complete employment management service — payroll processing, statutory compliance, documentation, ongoing HR support, and all administrative overhead associated with employing the worker.

There are no hidden charges. No separate billing for PF and ESI management. No additional fee for statutory register maintenance or inspection support. The service charge is the all-in cost of having Viriksha manage the complete employment relationship — and it is agreed upfront before any worker is deployed.

How the monthly billing works:

The client receives a monthly invoice before the 25th of each month covering the worker cost and the service charge for the following month. Payment is due before the 30th. On receipt of payment, Viriksha processes salaries for all deployed workers and credits them to worker accounts before the 5th. Statutory filings are completed mid-month. A compliance report covering all deployed workers — payroll summary, statutory filing confirmations, and register update status — is shared with the client before the 10th.
